In times-gone-by, the H. J. Heinz Company of Canada Ltd. held its traditional employees' picnic to celebrate the bountiful Tomato Harvest. As time moved forward, community-minded citizens with support from Heinz extended this unique Family tradition into today's "Tomato Festival". We've never forgotten our Cultural and Rural Heritage... and we look forward to a bigger and better future.
The Field Tomato is the largest locally grown crop in the region and has been used by Heinz Canada in its food products worldwide. Additionally, Leamington proudly hosts one the largest concentrations of Commercial Greenhouse operations in the world. Our Community supplies supermarkets across North America and the World.
The Tomato is the centrepiece of the Festival and symbolizes the our strong identity and belief in Family and Community.
Join us now, as Community and Visitors celebrate our Community's growth, achievements and heritage during the Tomato Festival.
The Leamington Tomato Festival is held every year in August, the peak of the Ontario Tomato Season.

The Leamington Tomato Festival is located Southeast of Detroit Michigan and Windsor, Canada .
Flying in? A rental car is necessary, but will open up the scope of your adventure. The drive from the Detroit Airport is approx. 50 min. to Leamington. The trip from the Windsor Airport will take about 35 min.
No matter where you are coming from there are quality Hotels, guest houses and B&B's everywhere. Stay on the American side in the Detroit area or cross the line over to theWindsor / Leamington area.
