Carroll County Heirloom Festival information is a bit of an anomaly.  It's held by the Carroll County Farmers Market and has less information available than any Tomato festival.  The mystery makes a  trip to Maryland appealing.  When the light at the end of the tunnel is an Heirloom Tomato tasting, that makes the possibilities even better!

The Carroll County Farmer’s Market will feature the Master Gardeners' Annual Heirloom Tomato Festival. .

There will be around 40 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes to taste. To be considered an heirloom tomato, the plants... must be open pollinated, which means by the wind or insects, and has existed for at least 50 years. The Master Gardeners will provide information on how to grow heirloom tomatoes and have heirloom seeds for customers to take home and grow next year. In addition to the fresh tomato tasting, there will be a variety of dishes using the heirloom tomatoes available for sampling, as well as recipe cards.

The Carroll County Heirloom Tomato Festival is located 40 Min. North/ Northwest of Baltimore, Maryland and is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Washington,  DC.

Flying in?  A rental car is necessary, but will open up the scope of your adventure.


No matter where you are coming from there are quality Hotels, guest houses and B&B's everywhere.  Staying in the Baltimore or Westminster MD area is the best choice. 

Both offer great accommodations.  Be sure to check the hotel map to assure best proximity to the Festival.
